Press-conference dedicated to the International sports cinema and TV festival’s championship final

24 February 2015, Tuesday

The final round of international sports cinema and TV festival’s world championship will take place in Kazan on 5-10 August. Internationla Federation of Sports Cinema and Television president Franco Ascani, Tatarstan first deputy sports minister Khalil Shaikhutdinov, and festival’s general manager Diana Safarova said it in a statement at a press conference at Tatar-inform.

The festival would for the first time in history be held in Russia nearly simultaneously with the world aquatics championship. The decision to hold it in Kazan was made by sports cinema federation’s general assembly on 4-5 December 2014 in Milan due to Tatarstan capital’s extensive experience in hosting large international events, including sports cinema and television championship’s national stage in 2010.

Shows are expected to take place at Rodina and 3D Port Cinema, with ticket prices being purely symbolical. Entrance for children with disabilities, children from low-income families and veterans would be free of charge, Khalil Shaikhutdinov said.

“Culture is the key component of sport. It combines athlete’s moral and physical qualities. Kazan, to me, is a good example for promoting sport. As organisers, we purport to promote culture through sport. Our organisation includes 113 members,” Franco Ascani said.

Within the competition, the jury is to identify winners in Olympic Games – Olympic Spirit, Documentary, Sports Broadcast, Cinema and Football, Short Length Films, Sports Animation, and others nominations.
